My last post was before Tony came home, and to those that don't know he came home safely. Of course the day he came home will always be memorable... and not because it was a good day. I will touch on that in my other blog though.
Darren has been attached to his dad since the day he got back. All of a sudden he's got a new buddy and mommy is boring once again. Except when he's really hurt. Then mommy needs to kiss it better. I'm awesome like that. Although Tony gets frustrated with the baby, when he's standing in front of the TV and banging on the screen and screaming at whoever is on screen. Or when he's sneaking up the stairs because we've forgotten to put the gate up... even when we put the gate up he's figured out how to climb it like a fence. Anyways, even when the baby annoys him he still loves the mini monster, and that's all that matters.
Speaking of the stairs, when I lived back with my in laws he would go to the stairs and try to climb. Right before I left Jeremy was home from school and was playing with him for a bit, when he put Darren down to go up and make himself a sandwich he kept calling out to the baby. Who would then start screaming at him from the bottom. Now when I say scream, I don't mean he was crying for attention. He does this weird monster scream when he's excited. Something Grandpa taught him. So Jeremy had jokingly called down and told Darren to come up the stairs, which a couple minutes later I came out of my room where I was packing stuff because Jeremy called me. I walked out to see Darren, at almost 7 months on the bottom stair. Jer was so excited and all I could think was "Great, I can just imagine him at the apartment." But I think we left in the next couple days because he didn't have another chance to really do it.... actually wait, he did it a couple times. But he couldn't really get his leg up the next step. So he would go on the first stair and scream at whomever had just walked up, Tony's dad, or Mom, Jeremy. It didn't matter.
So when I got back here he had no interest in our stairs, he liked playing with the Christmas tree and his toys. And when Daddy got back it was all about playing with him and getting his attention and trying to play with the X-box remote. Something else Grandpa taught him. Darren and I had only been back a week when we had to go home with Tony. If there is some reason you don't know the reason we had to go home, read my other blog. There will be a post up about it soon. Anyway, the first night we were home Darren climbed up the stairs at my in laws. All of them. With little to no help from anyone. Except for the balance thing he had it down. Freaking ridiculous. So we got back here and it took about a week but then he gained an interest in our stairs. And within the last week or so he will either try to climb over the gate or he will act uninterested in the stairs and wait for Tony and I to forget to put the thing up and the next thing we know he's upstairs in the bathroom, pushing things into the tub.
He's also starting to stand on his own. He's been standing up using my leg or the tv stand or the mini fridge, and then he'll let got for a few seconds. His balance is pretty much perfect, except for the little wobbles he gets sometimes. He's even taken a step by himself. But he won't do it very often and when he notices that I or his dad are watching he'll sit down and act like nothing has happened. He's a bum. But hopefully, with the impending play-dates with Otis and Whitney's boys(Otis is in Tony's unit.) he will pick it up fast. Eli and Noah will leave him in their dust if he doesn't.
Darren's first Valentines day was fun, we went out to dinner and he got french fries. I meant to take a picture, but when we got home he went straight to bed. He was a tired and crusty booger.
Anyways, this is where I'll leave off. More posts soon to come, and joy shall be had by all.
Love everyone!
